Eduardo Antonio, the renowned Cuban singer famously known as El Divo de Placetas, announced his official nomination for the 2026 Miami Icon Awards on Friday. This event celebrates Spanish-speaking artists, influencers, and content creators for their significant impact on the entertainment industry.
The artist shared this exciting news through two reels on his Instagram account, where his followers quickly congratulated him and predicted his success.
Joining him is the Cuban humor content creator, Amed Rodríguez, also known as Abejas Memes, who is nominated in the same "Favorites and Unstoppable" category this year.
This nomination comes just two days after Eduardo Antonio received the "Special Recognition for Latin Excellence" at the sixth edition of the Hispanic Celebrities Awards 2026, held at the EB Hotel Miami and organized by JBR Entertainment.
At that ceremony, the artist dedicated the award to his husband and producer Roy García and his late mother, noting it was his third award in the competition.
The year 2026 has been one of significant visibility for El Divo de Placetas. He participated in Telemundo's La Casa de los Famosos 6, staying for 77 days before exiting the show. In 2025, he was honored as an "LGBTQI+ Icon" for his visibility and contributions to the community.
Meanwhile, Abejas Memes has established himself as a prominent figure among the Cuban community abroad, known for his humor that critically examines life on the island.
The creator was awarded the YouTube Silver Button after surpassing 100,000 subscribers in November 2022, and by 2026, he has amassed over a million followers on Instagram.
The Miami Icon Awards 2026 include categories for creators with varying audience sizes, from nano influencers to mega influencers with over a million followers, along with specific categories for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, podcasts, and accolades such as Woman of the Year or Influencer Actor/Actress.
