A Cuban national was apprehended alongside three other individuals during a police operation targeting alleged drug trafficking in Brazil. The operation resulted in the seizure of cocaine, marijuana, ammunition, and more than 7,000 Brazilian reais in cash.
The raid took place on Monday, October 26, in Samambaia, an administrative region of Brasília, Brazil's capital. This information was reported by the Brazilian newspaper Metrópoles, citing the Federal District Military Police (PMDF).
Intelligence Leads to Police Action
The police action was initiated after intelligence services identified a suspect allegedly dealing in illicit substances in the areas of Samambaia and Taguatinga. Authorities noted that the suspect was planning a drug transaction in the vicinity, prompting officers to increase surveillance and conduct a raid in the sectors known as QR 210 and QR 607.
Operation Execution
The operation was executed by the Operational Tactical Group (GTOP 22), which is part of the Second Battalion of the Military Police, with the assistance of a specialized canine unit. During the operation, officers detained four men, including the Cuban national, and discovered significant quantities of various drugs.
According to the police report, the seizure included five packages of marijuana, around 700 grams of cocaine, and two kilograms of skunk, a potent strain of cannabis known for its high THC concentration. Additional portions of cocaine, marijuana, skunk, and crack, allegedly prepared for sale, were also found.
Additional Seizures
In addition to the drugs, officers confiscated 7,200 Brazilian reais in cash, two precision scales, and ammunition for 9mm and .40 caliber firearms, classified as restricted use. During the searches, three wild birds were also located and included among the confiscated items.
The four apprehended individuals were taken, along with the seized items, to the 26th Police Station in Samambaia, where they remain at the disposal of authorities for further proceedings.
