The Chacal Criticizes Cuban Regime and Targets Díaz-Canel During Concert Performance

Tuesday, October 27, 2026 by Ethan Navarro

The popular Cuban reggaeton artist, known as The Chacal, did not hold back his words during a recent concert, where he openly criticized the Cuban regime and directly insulted Miguel Díaz-Canel, eliciting a strong reaction from the audience.

A video shared on TikTok this Tuesday captures the moment when the artist, whose real name is Ramón Lavado Martínez, addresses the crowd amidst a sea of waving Cuban flags.

During his speech, The Chacal asked the audience to raise their hands if they felt free, seizing the opportunity to reflect on the challenges faced by Cubans, particularly regarding travel and the pursuit of a future outside the island.

The singer recounted a recent conversation he had with Dominican friends in Santo Domingo, who casually discussed traveling between the Dominican Republic, New York, and Miami—a stark contrast to the reality faced by many Cubans.

"I had to sit down with them and explain: Cubans, or most of my fellow countrymen, can't think like that," the artist shared before delivering one of the most striking lines of his speech: "It's not that we're not good people. It's that we're under a dictatorship."

Unapologetically, The Chacal also criticized Cuban leaders, accusing them of enjoying privileges while the population struggles to obtain food and meet basic needs.

However, his message extended beyond the regime. The performer took a moment to acknowledge the courage of Cubans who have chosen to emigrate in search of freedom, better opportunities, and a brighter future for their families.

"Congratulations to all my fellow countrymen who leave seeking freedom, congratulations to all my fellow countrymen who want to put food on the table back home, congratulations to all my fellow countrymen who strive to give their children the best future," he expressed to the attendees.

The tension peaked when the reggaeton artist mentioned Miguel Díaz-Canel three times, culminating his speech with an insult directed at the Cuban leader, which provoked a strong response from the audience.

This isn't the first time The Chacal has used the stage to voice his opposition to the Cuban government. In mid-October, during a concert in Alicante, Spain, he waved a Cuban flag and criticized Díaz-Canel for urging citizens to be creative amidst worsening economic conditions.

In July 2025, the singer was moved to tears during a performance in Zaragoza, where he called for Cuba's freedom while holding a flag emblazoned with "SOS Cuba" and "Patria y Vida."

His longing for a free Cuba has also been evident in significant moments of his personal life. In February 2026, while celebrating his 40th birthday in Miami, he declared that his greatest birthday wish was the liberation of his homeland.

Through these latest remarks, The Chacal reaffirms his stance against the Cuban government and his support for those who have had to leave the island in search of a better life.
