Florida Power & Light (FPL), a leading energy provider in Florida, has nearly completed restoring power in six out of eight counties impacted by Hurricane Isaias. Over 85% of customers who experienced outages have had service restored.

The update comes from a report released at 10:00 PM Central Daylight Time (CDT) on Monday, corresponding to 03:00 UTC on Tuesday, August 13, as confirmed by the company in an official statement.

FPL highlighted that this achievement meets their recovery target set for Monday. To date, the company has resolved over 380,000 service interruptions, though this number does not directly equate to individual customers affected.

Focus on Hard-Hit Areas

Ongoing efforts are primarily concentrated in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, where the damage from Isaias has posed significant challenges to repairs. Crews are actively working in these areas, and FPL anticipates completing nearly all service restorations by the end of Tuesday.

Compared to earlier assessments, the current situation reflects progress, as FPL had initially adjusted its recovery target from 95% to 85% for Monday, extending complex repairs in Escambia and Santa Rosa to Tuesday.

Infrastructure and Schools Back Online

FPL has also confirmed that power has been restored to all critical infrastructure facilities and schools scheduled to open on Tuesday.

The company cautions that some customers might still experience outages or fluctuations even after the network's restoration due to undetected hurricane-related damages.

For homes and businesses, power restoration also depends on whether individual electrical systems are safe to receive service again. In cases of damaged equipment, FPL advises consulting a licensed electrician before requesting reconnection.

Customer Support and Resources

For residents still without electricity, FPL has set up more than ten support centers in the region, providing water, ice, and repair information.

Customers can access FPL's official channels or report outages by calling 1-800-468-8243. Those requiring financial assistance for electrical repairs can explore the Care to Share program's eligibility requirements.
