DR Power Equipment has announced the recall of approximately 42,860 wheeled trimmers from its Pilot and Premier lines sold across the United States, following 19 reports of fires associated with these devices. Notably, two of these incidents resulted in minor injuries. Additionally, around 340 units sold in Canada are also affected by this recall.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued alert 27-016 on October 8, 2026. It warns that grass and other debris can accumulate in the machinery, potentially igniting and posing significant fire and burn hazards. Among the reported minor injuries are blisters on hands and feet.

Which DR Power Models Are Included?

The recall encompasses all serial numbers of the following eight models:

  • T4X1076DMN
  • T4X1076DMNR
  • T4X1076DMNSD
  • T4X1176DMN
  • T4X1176DMN-1
  • T4X1176DMNR
  • R43076DMNT
  • R43076DMNR

To determine if a machine is affected, owners should locate the model number label on the side of the frame and compare it to the list. These impacted units are orange and black wheeled push trimmers featuring the DR Power logo. It is important to note that these are not riding lawn mowers, and the recall does not cover all DR Power products.

The recalled trimmers were sold between November 2022 and July 2026, with prices ranging from $380 to $550. They were available at retailers such as Ace, TSC, and Bomgaars, in addition to other hardware stores, home improvement outlets, and garden equipment dealers throughout the United States, as well as online at drpower.com.

How to Request a Free Repair

The CPSC advises owners to immediately stop using the affected trimmers and contact DR Power Equipment to request a free repair kit. For those who prefer not to install the kit themselves, free installation is available through an authorized dealer.

The announced remedy for this recall involves repairing the equipment, rather than returning it or providing a refund.
