Despite the initial rush in September, the Imserso travel program for the 2026-2027 season continues to offer bookings throughout the campaign.

This season, the program provides 879,213 available spots for various destinations, including the Spanish mainland coast, the Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands. Travelers can also choose from cultural circuits, nature tourism, provincial capitals, and getaways to Ceuta and Melilla.

If you missed out on your desired destination during the early sales, don't lose hope—a booked spot might open up again. Imserso advises that cancellations and modifications frequently free up spaces, which are then reintroduced into the booking system.

Finding Available Imserso Travel Spots

From September 19, 2026, accredited individuals can book any remaining spots, regardless of the initial provincial quota that affected early sales. Booking is ongoing as long as there are open spots.

Social Tourism handles bookings for mainland coast trips and getaway tourism, which can be checked and reserved through their platform. Mundicolor manages the destinations in the Balearic and Canary Islands.

Reservations can also be made in person at authorized travel agencies. Online bookings require a DNI and the accreditation code included in the letter sent by Imserso. For agency bookings, just present your DNI.

Why Keep Checking for Spots

Not finding an open spot today doesn't mean the destination is unavailable for the entire season. Canceled bookings re-enter the system, possibly opening up dates or destinations that previously seemed fully booked.

Those with flexible schedules should regularly check Social Tourism or Mundicolor websites and consult collaborating agencies, as availability changes in real time. Thus, relying on a fixed number of available spots throughout the season is not advisable.

Understanding Imserso Travel Costs for 2026-2027

The cost varies based on destination, duration, transportation, and chosen month. For instance, a 10-day stay on the mainland coast, including transport, costs 309.22 euros during the regular season and 409.22 euros during peak times. An 8-day stay costs 244.04 euros in the regular season and 344.04 euros during peak times.

If opting out of transport, the mainland costs are 270.39 euros for 10 days and 224.63 euros for 8 days. During peak season, these increase to 370.39 and 324.63 euros, respectively.

Traveling to the Balearic Islands: Pricing

In the Balearics with transport, a 10-day stay is priced at 353.37 euros during the regular season and 453.37 euros in peak season. An 8-day stay costs 285.29 euros or 385.29 euros during peak times.

Without transport, a 10-day stay is 270.52 euros, and an 8-day stay is 224.36 euros. Peak season prices rise to 370.52 and 324.36 euros.

What It Costs to Visit the Canary Islands with Imserso

The Canary Islands have the highest prices for coastal trips when transport is included. A 10-day, 9-night stay costs 464.72 euros during the regular season and 564.72 euros during peak times.

An 8-day, 7-night trip is 378.75 euros in the regular season and 478.75 euros in peak season. Without transport, the prices are 270.39 euros for 10 days and 224.28 euros for 8 days, excluding peak season surcharges.

Costs for Circuits and Getaways

The program offers options for travelers preferring city tours or cultural circuits over coastal stays. Cultural circuits of six days and five nights cost 312.51 euros during the regular season and 412.51 euros during peak times.

Nature tourism trips of five days and four nights are priced at 305.75 euros, or 405.75 euros with a peak season supplement. Provincial capital trips, lasting four days and three nights, start at 132.91 euros and rise to 232.91 euros during peak season.

Trips to Ceuta or Melilla, five days and four nights long, cost 305.75 euros in the regular season and 405.75 euros in peak times.

Peak Season Months

Peak season varies by destination. For trips to the mainland and Balearics, the surcharge applies in October, May, and June. In the Canary Islands, peak season includes December, January, and February. Getaway tourism also sees surcharges in October, May, and June.

Additional Costs for Multiple Trips

Travelers making more than one Imserso trip in the same season should be aware of a 100-euro supplement for the second trip, regardless of destination, batch, or duration differences.

Special Rate for Pensioners

The 2026-2027 season includes a special rate for pensioners with limited resources. Imserso has allocated 7,447 spots at 50 euros for those whose financial means are equal to or below non-contributory pension amounts and who scored highest in evaluation criteria.

This rate can't be freely requested during booking. Eligibility is indicated in the beneficiary's accreditation letter and applies to one trip in the specified destination area.

What's Included in the Price

Prices generally include double occupancy accommodation with full board, except for trips to provincial capitals, which offer half board. Transport is included where specified. Provincial capital trips do not include transport.

The program also provides a collective insurance policy and, for coastal trips, additional healthcare and sociocultural activities.

Single Room Surcharge

Travelers desiring single rooms, where available, must pay a nightly surcharge. This is 22 euros per night in the Balearics and mainland coast, 24 euros in the Canary Islands, and 26 euros for getaway trips.

Who Can Participate in Imserso Trips

The program isn't solely age-dependent. It welcomes Spanish residents who are retirees from the public pension system, widowed pensioners aged 55 or older, pensioners for other reasons, and unemployment benefit recipients aged 60 or older. Also eligible are Social Security insured or beneficiaries aged 65 or older.

Provisions exist for Spanish citizens living abroad or returning emigrants who meet the criteria.

Travel Companion Requirements

An accredited individual may travel with their spouse, partner, or someone in a similar stable relationship, without the companion needing to meet age or pension requirements. The program also allows children with disabilities of 45% or more to accompany the participant, subject to program conditions.

Both the participant and their companions, excluding children with disabilities, must be able to perform basic daily activities independently.

Traveling with Pets

The program allows traveling with pets on certain mainland and island coastal trips, subject to availability. Pets must not be classified as dangerous and must weigh under 10 kilograms, including the carrier. Any pet-related costs during travel or accommodation are the traveler's responsibility.

Accreditation Process

To book a trip for the 2026-2027 season, accreditation by Imserso is required. The regular application period was from June 22 to July 10, 2026, and is currently closed. Imserso might open another application period later, with official announcements to follow.

Those accredited in previous seasons did not need to reapply unless they needed to update their information.

Checking for New Availability

For mainland coast trips, cultural circuits, nature tourism, provincial capitals, Ceuta, and Melilla, availability can be checked on the Social Tourism platform. Reservations for the Balearic and Canary Islands are managed through Mundicolor.

Interested parties can also consult collaborating agencies via the official Imserso Tourism Program website. As cancellations reintroduce spots, flexible travelers can find new opportunities even if their desired trip initially appeared sold out.
