Cuban singer Haydée Milanés publicly expressed her support for Anna Sofía Benítez Silvente, known as Anna Bensi, and her mother, Caridad Silvente, as they face a trial in Havana. Her statement coincided with the day of their court hearing.

On her Facebook profile, Milanés shared her sympathy for the mother and daughter duo, describing the legal proceedings as a "meaningless trial."

"I offer my full support to Anna Bensi and her mother, who are undergoing an absurd trial merely for being consistent in their peaceful protest against the terrible and unsustainable situation faced by the Cuban people," the singer wrote.

Milanés concluded her message with a hopeful note regarding Cuba's future: "Justice will prevail in our land. I have faith."

Growing Support for Bensi and Silvente

The singer's declaration adds to the widespread public backing that Bensi and Silvente have received throughout the day.

Additionally, on the same day, Dianelys Alfonso Cartaya, known artistically as La Diosa, urged Cubans on the island not to abandon the young woman during the legal proceedings.

"Don't leave her alone. She is speaking on behalf of you and your family," the artist declared.

Community and Religious Leaders Rally

Solidarity was also evident outside the courthouse. Religious figures like Sor Nadieska Almeida and Father Lester Rafael Zayas Díaz were among the dozens who showed up to support Bensi and her mother, alongside activists, friends, and religious community members.

The day was further marred by reports of surveillance, movement restrictions, and arrests of those attempting to attend the trial.

Trial and Accusations

Anna Bensi and her mother arrived at the courthouse to cheers from supporters who managed to get close. They reported being watched by patrols, uniformed officers, and plainclothes agents from their home to the court venue.

The trial against Bensi and Silvente stems from a social media video showing a Ministry of Interior agent delivering a State Security summons to their home.

Both women face charges of "acts against personal and family privacy."
