Cuban actor, presenter, and producer Ricardo Becerra has voiced strong criticism against Miami International Airport, claiming he encountered dirtiness, mistreatment, and employees more focused on their phones than on assisting travelers.
"Folks, I'm at Miami International Airport, and it's astonishing how filthy this airport is, the mistreatment from the staff is truly shocking," Becerra declared in a video he shared on his Facebook profile.
Having settled in Miami since 2014 after spending a significant period in Spain, Becerra emphasized that the state of the airport starkly contrasts with the image he believes a major airport in South Florida should project.
"Some people call it 'aeropig,' and I can confirm it's accurate. It's an international 'aeropig' in Miami, which reflects poorly on us as a city," he remarked.
Becerra also criticized the staff's attention, describing them as "immersed in their phones," and likened his experience to arriving at a "third-world airport."
"I honestly don't know who's to blame, but whoever is responsible needs to address this because it's terrible," he demanded.
His visit coincided with a major police operation following reports of gunfire at the airport, parts of which were captured in his video.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office reported that a 31-year-old man fired four shots from a parking garage towards the terminal. Three bullets hit a metal dumpster, and one struck the windshield of an unoccupied vehicle. Authorities confirmed there were no injuries or active threats to the public.
The criticisms regarding the airport's condition are not new. In August 2025, Cubans Imaray Ulloa and Fabián Fontaine complained about leaks, issues with the internal train, and long waits for gate assignments.
Months earlier, another Cuban went viral on TikTok, claiming "that Miami airport is disgusting" after encountering broken escalators and closed restrooms.
