Argentinian President Javier Milei once again demanded an end to the Cuban regime on Wednesday, taking his call to the prominent global stage of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York City.
Speaking with reporters, Milei was unequivocal: "Cuba must be free; the bloody dictatorship must end."
This brief yet powerful statement, captured in a 17-second video shared by Martí Noticias, coincided with Milei's speech to the General Assembly. His address focused on Argentina's sovereignty over the Falkland Islands, criticism of the UN's operations, and Argentina's ambitions as a hub for artificial intelligence development.
Milei's remarks followed U.S. President Donald Trump's description of Cuba as a "completely failed state" in the same Assembly and his prediction that the regime "will fall."
In response to Trump's comments, the Cuban delegation exited the room in protest, while Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla labeled the statements as "falsehoods" and "slanders."
Also on Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Milei in New York. After their meeting, Rubio stated that "our hemisphere is safer thanks to our close cooperation." He also delivered a direct message to the Cuban regime: "You have an opportunity."
