Rachel Chang, crowned as Miss International Cuba 2026, took to the runways at New York Fashion Week as part of her global preparation before representing Cuba at one of the world's premier beauty pageants.

The Havana-born model and attorney, who was crowned on June 29 in Miami under the auspices of the National Beauty Reign of Cuba (RNBCuba), was invited to participate by the same organization, led by Sergio Meso.

During the fashion extravaganza, held from September 10 to 15, Rachel showcased designs from notable brands and designers such as Leo Almodal, Uno Rodriguez, HER.I, and Meehee Hanbok, reinforcing her status in the international fashion scene, Meso shared with CiberCuba.

Joining her on the runway was fellow Cuban, Damián Fernández Peña, who also graced the event's stage.

Sergio Meso revealed to the media that Rachel and Damián were the sole Cuban representatives to model for major designers during this edition, particularly for Leo Almodal.

Apart from her runway appearances, Rachel Chang also engaged in a forum hosted by China US Fashion Week. The discussions focused on fast fashion, its environmental impact, and the working conditions within the industry.

RNBCuba's Instagram account recently shared a reel of Rachel exploring New York's streets, captioned: "Hello, New York! Concrete jungle where dreams are made. Where every street feels like a new beginning, every light inspires, and the city reminds you that anything is possible."

Rachel, born in Havana with roots in Pinar del Río—her mother hails from that province—also participated in the national RNBCuba pageant in Miami on June 29, where her daughter received her crown.

An alumna of journalism and law, Rachel currently practices as an attorney in South Florida, balancing her legal career with her endeavors in the beauty and fashion industries.

Her participation in New York Fashion Week is a key step in her preparation for the 64th Miss International pageant, where she will represent Cuba on November 25, 2026, at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Japan.

Based in Miami, RNBCuba has significantly enhanced the visibility of the Cuban diaspora in international beauty contests in recent years.

In a landmark event in August 2025, the organization celebrated as two Cuban sisters were crowned at the same time in Hialeah Gardens, Florida: Rachel as Miss Earth Cuba 2025 and her sister Jennifer as Miss Globe Cuba 2025.
