Wednesday, September 16, 2026 by Ava Castillo

The Latin music scene is gearing up for a major celebration as the Latin Recording Academy unveiled the nominees for the 27th Annual Latin Grammy Awards this Wednesday. This year's competition is particularly fierce, with several prominent figures in Ibero-American music securing a significant number of nominations.

Leading the pack are Edgar Barrera, Karol G, Rosalía, Jorge Drexler, and the duo CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, each boasting seven nominations.

Edgar Barrera, the Mexican-American composer and producer renowned for his contributions to numerous Latin hits, once again takes center stage. He is in the running for Songwriter of the Year and Producer of the Year. Additionally, he is a contender for Song of the Year with "Coleccionando Heridas," performed by Karol G and Marco Antonio Solís, and "Mi Gran Amor," by Santana featuring Becky G. Barrera also has three nominations in the Best Regional Mexican Song category for "Ese Hombre Es Malo," "No Capea," and "Ojitos Bellos."

Colombian sensation Karol G has also garnered seven nominations. She is vying for Album of the Year and Best Urban Music Album with her record Tropicoqueta. Moreover, "Coleccionando Heridas," alongside Marco Antonio Solís, is nominated for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Her nominations extend to Best Urban Performance for "Dile Luna" with Eddy Lover, Best Reggaeton Performance for "Verano Rosa" featuring Feid, and Best Regional Mexican Song for "Ese Hombre Es Malo."

Karol G's momentum comes from the success of Tropicoqueta, which dominated the charts after its June 2025 release, debuting at number three on the Billboard 200 and reaching the top position on the Top Latin Albums chart.

Meanwhile, Rosalía matches this feat with seven nominations of her own. Her album LUX (Complete Works) is in the running for Album of the Year and Best Alternative Music Album. Her collaboration on "La Perla" with Yahritza y Su Esencia is up for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Song. The Spanish artist is also nominated for Best Portuguese Language Song with "Memória," featuring Carminho, and Best Short Form Music Video for "Sauvignon Blanc."

Uruguayan musician Jorge Drexler also secures seven nominations, featuring in categories like Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Alternative Song, Best Singer-Songwriter Album, Best Singer-Songwriter Song, and Best Roots Song.

Argentine duo CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso complete the group of top nominees, with nods in categories such as Record of the Year for "Ha Ha" and Album of the Year for FREE SPIRITS, along with nominations in alternative, pop/rock, electronic, and music video categories.

The evening of November 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas promises to be a gathering of many influential names who have shaped the Latin music landscape over the past year.
