A Cuban content creator known as Yaneisy (@yaneisycanta_98) has sparked a wave of curiosity on TikTok by unveiling what she believes is Cuba's most stunning beach: Chapaleta. This nearly untouched paradise is nestled on the northern coast of Las Tunas, specifically in the Puerto Manatí area.
The video, which Yaneisy shared at the end of August, was a response to the clamor from her thousands of followers who, after seeing images of the beach in a previous post, demanded to know its name. In just a few weeks, the clip amassed over 85,700 views, garnered 6,203 likes, and received 408 comments.
"Cuba boasts the best beaches in the world, but I believe this one has truly hit the jackpot," Yaneisy declares at the start of the video before revealing the beach's name.
The Allure of Chapaleta
Yaneisy describes Chapaleta as having fine sand, crystal-clear waters, and sandbanks that set it apart from any other location she has visited in eastern Cuba, including some beaches in Guantánamo and Inca Mahuey. "I've had the privilege of visiting many beaches in eastern Cuba, many places, but none as breathtaking as this," she asserts.
Reaching Chapaleta is not straightforward; it requires a 35 to 40-minute boat ride. Nonetheless, Yaneisy considers this a minor inconvenience, saying, "It's worth it 100 percent."
However, the beach does pose a risk that Yaneisy does not shy away from mentioning: "You need to be very cautious because its current is extremely strong and can be dangerous," she warns, referring to the estuary surrounding the area.
Chapaleta's Natural Riches
Chapaleta boasts a 765-meter coastline, with cream-colored fine sand, a sandy seabed, a gentle slope, and is in excellent condition. Its surrounding estuaries and mangroves add ecological value, and academic studies have identified it as a promising site for nautical activities, diving, and nature tourism.
The viral success of Chapaleta is not an isolated incident this summer. In July, Cuban influencer Daniela Lodeiro brought attention to Playa La Boca in Puerto Padre, also in Las Tunas, with a video that surpassed 242,900 views and accumulated over 16,200 likes in just a few hours.
These videos demonstrate the intrigue that lesser-known natural destinations in Cuba can generate on social media. Las Tunas is home to 36 beaches, 34 of which are on the northern coast, many with minimal urban development and significant natural value, although they have historically been overshadowed by more famous tourist spots like Varadero or Guardalavaca.
