A coachman from Cárdenas, Matanzas, has captured attention with his remarkable honesty after returning a forgotten phone to a young woman and astonishingly revealing that he still possessed a child's lost sandal from months earlier.

Activist Christian Arbolaez shared on Facebook this Wednesday the story of the coachman, identified as Luis Felipe, who went back to the location where he dropped off the young woman after realizing she had left her phone behind.

During their conversation, another tale unfolded. The coachman was informed that about four months prior, a neighbor's child had lost a small sandal in the very same vehicle.

The surprise came when Luis Felipe showed that he had kept the sandal all this time.

"It had been approximately four months, and the man had not discarded it. He kept it in his carriage in case the owner ever came back," the activist explained.

Thus, on the same day he returned the phone, the little sandal—kept safe for months—was also reunited with its owner.

"Two completely distinct objects but the same approach to handling them," Arbolaez summarized, noting that the coachman could have kept the phone or thrown away the sandal, but he chose not to do either.

"Sometimes honesty shines through when no one is watching, compelling you to do the right thing," he reflected.

The activist concluded his post with a phrase that swiftly encapsulated the act: "Good people still exist."

Amid the severe economic hardships, there are still individuals who embody the most admirable qualities of humanity.

Similarly, this coachman's tale echoes another recent incident in Cárdenas, where a pedicab driver returned a forgotten suitcase, a gesture that also garnered widespread praise on social media.

Comparable stories have emerged from other provinces. In early September, a driver returned a phone lost by a teenager during a family emergency in Cienfuegos after the young person left it behind on the way to a hospital.

Additionally, in May, a young coachman's heartwarming act of solidarity went viral, another anecdote that stands out amid the nation's ongoing struggles.
