A 50-year-old woman was taken into custody on Monday in northwest Miami-Dade after she was accused of breaking into her neighbor's home and dousing her with a bucket of human feces, allegedly driven by suspicions of an affair between the neighbor and her husband.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Department arrest report identifies the suspect as Yirsi Esperanza Machado Rivera. Both she and the victim reside in separate sections of a split trailer located in the Royal Country mobile home park, situated in the 5500 block of Northwest 200th Terrace, west of Miami Gardens.
At approximately 6:15 p.m. on Monday, Machado Rivera reportedly approached the victim's living area and began pounding on the door.
Upon answering the door, the victim was met with accusations from Machado Rivera, who claimed the victim was having an affair with her husband, according to police records.
Authorities reported that Machado Rivera forced her way into the home, shoved the victim, and before leaving, dumped the bucket's contents over her.
A witness informed officers that the accused had openly admitted her intentions: "She said she defecated in a bucket to throw it in her face."
However, during questioning at the Northwest District Sheriff's station, Machado Rivera offered a different account.
She stated that she was merely trying to dispose of a bucket of "poop" she had been using due to a broken toilet, and denied both entering the neighbor's home and throwing anything at her.
Machado Rivera also claimed that during the dispute over the smell, the victim struck her on the head with a bat, resulting in a cut.
Charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling and battery, Machado Rivera faces serious felony charges under Florida law.
During a bond hearing, Judge Mindy Glazer succinctly summarized the case: "This is an interesting case: she believes the neighbor is having relations with her husband, so she forces her way into the victim's house and then throws feces, a bucket of feces."
