A fire that broke out on Monday night prompted a swift response from multiple firefighter units in the heart of Santiago de Cuba's historic district. The blaze, along with thick plumes of smoke, was visible from various vantage points across the area.
Social communicator Yosmany Mayeta Labrada reported the incident from the vicinity of Aguilera and San Agustín streets, a bustling and central part of the city.
Images shared depict firefighters from the Fire Department working diligently to extinguish the flames, while a dense cloud of smoke rose among the buildings.
Preliminary accounts, as received by Mayeta Labrada, suggest the fire originated in a residence that also housed a business. However, the exact location and cause of the fire remained undetermined at the time of the initial reports.
"From several nearby rooftops, flames and thick smoke were visible, prompting numerous residents to take to the streets," the communicator explained.
