On Sunday, four Cuban nationals were apprehended in Cancun following a dramatic police pursuit that culminated in a car crashing into the perimeter fence of a Mexican National Guard facility.
The chase unfolded at the intersection of Chichén Itzá and Tulum avenues in Supermanzana 63, after officers attempted to stop a white Volkswagen with Sinaloa plates.
According to Posta MX, state police signaled the vehicle to stop, but the occupants disregarded the command and accelerated, initiating a high-speed chase through several central Cancun avenues.
The pursuit came to a halt when the driver lost control trying to merge onto Chichén Itzá Avenue, crashing into the wall of the federal premises, causing noticeable damage.
After the collision, a Cuban man and woman exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.
Cuban Nationals Attempt to Escape
As reported by Quinta Fuerza, officers managed to capture both individuals: the man was subdued by law enforcement, while the woman cooperated with the authorities.
The incident led to two additional arrests. Reports indicated that two Cuban women present at the scene attempted to seize the detained woman's cellphone, resulting in their arrest as well.
In total, three women and one man, all of Cuban nationality, were taken into custody by the authorities.
