Man Arrested for Disturbing Incident with Employee at Miami-Dade Store

Sean Edward Uribe, a 37-year-old resident from southwest Miami-Dade, was taken into custody last Monday on charges of assault following a troubling event that took place on August 17 at a Ross Dress for Less store in the county.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) labeled him as a repeat offender with previous convictions for similar offenses, cautioning that there may be further victims across the county who remain unaware of being assaulted.

A Disturbing Scene at the Ross Store

The incident unfolded while a store employee was busy restocking shelves and did not witness the event directly. A coworker noticed Uribe loitering suspiciously before he began to grasp and massage his genitals over his clothing.

The arrest report, referenced by local media, states that "the witness observed the accused discreetly positioning himself behind the victim and placing both hands in front of him, near the groin area. As the accused began to walk away, the witness noted that the suspect might have sprayed an unknown liquid onto the victim's shirt while leaving the scene and exiting the store."

Upon being alerted, the victim discovered a "cloudy and sticky substance of unknown fluid" on the back of her shirt and pants.

The MDSO sent the sample for DNA testing, and authorities deem it consistent with bodily fluids.

Identification of the Suspect

According to Local 10, detectives identified Uribe through surveillance footage due to their prior knowledge of his "modus operandi." A witness picked him out in a photographic lineup on August 19, leading to his arrest days later at a probation office.

At the time of his arrest, Uribe was on probation for assault and attempting to tamper with physical evidence, resulting in an additional charge for violating probation.

Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer appointed a public defender for him, ordered no contact with the victim, and set his bail at $10,000.

As of Friday, he remained in custody at the Metrowest Detention Center.

A Troubled History of Incidents in County Stores

The latest incident adds to a documented pattern of troubling behavior. According to CBS Miami, in June 2024, Uribe was arrested at another Ross in Kendall for using a medical syringe to spray liquid on a minor's buttocks and filming it; a search of his home uncovered three syringes containing a white liquid consistent with semen.

Subsequent arrests followed in July and August of that year at a Marshalls in the area, and in May 2026, he was detained again after an incident at another Marshalls in Town and Country, where a victim felt a "warm stream" of a substance on her back while being recorded with a phone.

Under Florida law, committing assault with a prior conviction for the same offense elevates the charge to a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.

Authorities Urge Victims to Come Forward

Detective Diego Mendoza, the lead spokesperson for the case, emphasized the severity of the pattern:

"In his specific case, my unit is quite familiar with him; it's not particularly surprising, but generally it's quite shocking that people do this in front of cameras, with anyone around, children, anyone watching."

Mendoza further warned that the actual scope could be much larger:

"My concern is that he's doing this to a number of women throughout Miami-Dade County. I'm certain multiple women don't even know he's done this to them."

The MDSO urged anyone who may have experienced a similar encounter with Uribe to contact authorities, stressing the possibility of victims who are still unaware of what happened to them.
