A man was successfully rescued after falling to the bottom of a well during excavation work in the Loma del Caguayo area of Holguín. The victim sustained multiple injuries and required immediate medical attention at a nearby hospital.

The incident took place late Tuesday, as reported by Realidades from Holguín, a source affiliated with the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) and supportive of the regime, which described the operation as a "successful rescue."

According to the source, the man was working on the excavation of the well when he lost his balance and fell to the bottom while attempting to climb out.

Due to the fall, he suffered injuries across various parts of his body and was trapped with "clear signs of trauma," prompting the activation of emergency protocols.

Specialized personnel from the Holguín Fire Department, part of the Rescue and Salvage unit, were deployed to extract the man from the well.

The team employed confined space rescue techniques and managed to "bring him up alive from the well," as detailed in the report.

Once on the surface, a neighbor rushed the injured man to the nearest hospital for medical evaluation to determine the severity of his injuries.

No further updates were provided on the patient's diagnosis or additional details regarding his health condition.

This incident follows another rescue earlier this month at Loma de la Cruz in Holguín, where firefighters and personnel from the Integrated Medical Emergency System assisted a citizen who had fallen and sustained fractures and other injuries.

In May, firefighters also rescued a 73-year-old man trapped by the rising waters of the Marañón River. The individual suffered injuries from a fall and a possible hip fracture.

Holguín is also known for the extensive 2023 operation to save Fernando Herrera Ramírez, a 63-year-old worker trapped in a well in the Frank País municipality. Rescuers took over 24 hours to reach him after a landslide trapped him during maintenance work.

Accidents involving wells have also been reported recently in other provinces. In Bayamo, a woman fell into an uncovered well this month and was transported to a hospital via electric scooter after being rescued, due to the unavailability of an ambulance.
