Katherine Guevara, a Cuban content creator known on Instagram as @katyy_guevaraa, shared an emotional farewell as she left Cuba. Her post captured the bittersweet emotions of leaving one's homeland and family to embark on a new chapter abroad.
"I packed my dreams in my suitcase and carried the 'we're so proud of you and know you'll achieve everything you set your mind to' in my handbag. Today, the bravest of the fearful took the flights and the biggest decision of her life, asking God only for strength and health; the rest is up to me," wrote Katherine alongside a series of airport and in-flight photos, including one of her Cuban passport against the airplane window as the runway faded away.
"Brace yourself, world, because here comes this Cuban made of rice with fried eggs and bread with oil. With a tight heart and butterflies in my stomach, but grateful for this opportunity. Here I go, life, be kind to me," she added, determined to give her all to succeed.
Adventures from Departure to Arrival
Days later, Katherine shared a humorous reel detailing each stage of her journey, from immigration checks to reuniting with her father.
"I went through immigration with all my printed documents like a responsible girl and walked through the so-called happiness hall, which wasn't all that happy because I passed through immigration crying," she recounted.
During the flight, Katherine admitted to praying constantly for the plane's safety and marveled at the simple pleasure of a cola with ice, an uncommon luxury in Cuba due to frequent blackouts: "They gave me these cookies and a cola with ice on the plane, mama, with ice! These people really have power," she remarked.
Final Destination: A New Beginning
The itinerary included a brief layover in Panama: "We arrived in Panama for a one-hour layover, so I had to rush to catch the next flight because that airport was huge," she explained.
Upon arriving at her final destination, Katherine was awestruck by the dazzling city lights viewed from above: "Look at that beautiful view. I was mesmerized by so many lights."
The reunion with her family had a comedic twist; Katherine searched for her father among the crowd, only to find him "wearing a cap and hiding."
While Katherine didn't disclose her final destination, many followers identified Montreal, Canada, from the airport scenes in her video.
