A five-year separation filled with dreams and longing culminated in a heartfelt embrace. Cuban influencer Esmeralda Deulof shared a touching video on her Instagram account capturing the moment she reunited with her grandmother, aunt, and uncle in Cuba, after being apart for half a decade.
The video featured a poignant overlay text: "So many years dreaming of this... after 5 years I was able to hug them again. Thank you, Jehovah."
In her post, Esmeralda used simple words to express her emotions about the reunion: "After five years, I finally got to hug my family again. My grandmother, my aunt, my uncle... Words cannot describe what my heart felt at that moment. There are hugs that heal years of distance and remind us that, ultimately, family will always be our safe haven."
She traveled to the island with her boyfriend, singer Charly — officially known as Carlos de Jesús Coronado Chirino, part of the urban music duo Charly & Johayron. Esmeralda expressed her deep affection for him in the same post: "Thank you, my love, for being by my side during such an important moment and for being part of a memory that I'll treasure forever in my heart."
Charly quickly responded in the comments with equal tenderness: "Happy to have been part of something so beautiful for you, knowing how much you needed it."
The couple publicly announced their relationship in April 2026, and since then, they have celebrated several milestones together. Just last month, Charly purchased his first home in Miami, with Esmeralda present for the signing and celebration.
The reunion post resonated deeply with thousands of Cubans in the diaspora who saw themselves in that moment. "That embrace is everything that's right. Only those of us with families far away know what it feels like," one follower commented. Another added, "The most longed-for hug for those of us outside Cuba, blessings to your family."
