This incident was brought to light on Monday by Marilin Mas Peña through a public Facebook group called Pilón. She explained that the elderly pair was on their way back home after spending several months battling a severe illness that "no one would wish upon anyone."
The theft reportedly happened overnight "on the Manzanillo-Pilón train bus," according to Mas Peña, although she didn't specify the exact transport method or the location where the luggage was taken, nor how the thieves managed to steal it.
The suitcase, described as medium-sized and light brown, contained critical hospital documents needed for ongoing medical consultations in Manzanillo, along with necessary treatments and the few personal effects the couple had during their hospital stay.
Mas Peña appealed for assistance in retrieving at least the medicines and documents, emphasizing their essential role in continuing medical care. She included a contact number, 52839174, in her original post for anyone who could provide information.
"Please, touch your hearts and consider that no one wants to be in a hospital battling cancer," Mas Peña implored, expressing sorrow over how the couple was robbed of their scant belongings just as they were returning home to rest.
