Cuban Man Secures Oil Bottle in Safe, Urges: "Chase Your Dreams"

Sunday, August 9, 2026 by Alexander Flores

A 24-year-old Cuban, who goes by the name El Burla on social media, has turned the mundane act of purchasing a bottle of oil into a satirical take on motivational videos. After "years of sacrifice," he proudly announced not only acquiring the product but also a safe to protect it.

"Hello, I'm known as El Burla. I'm twenty-four, and I've just bought my first bottle of oil," the young man declares in an Instagram video, accompanied by a tongue-in-cheek caption: "Feeling Blessed."

With complete seriousness, El Burla presents the purchase as if it were one of life's significant milestones.

The Ultimate Achievement: A Bottle of Oil

"It was a tough journey, with many years of sacrifice, but it was a goal I set at an early age, and I achieved it," he confidently states.

The comedic punchline follows shortly after, as he reveals where he intends to store his prized possession.

"I also saved enough over these past years to buy a safe to securely store my bottle of oil," he explains with a straight face.

Planning for the Future: A 13-Year Supply

The humor escalates as he discusses his plans for using the oil, intending to stretch its use from 2027 to 2040, aiming to make it last 13 years.

As if he had just purchased a house, a car, or achieved a financial milestone, he concludes with a motivational message for those still chasing their dreams.

"And with this, I want to tell you all to chase your dreams," he concludes.

The post garnered over 14,000 likes and accumulated more than 800 comments, becoming another example of how humor is used to highlight the soaring oil prices in Cuba.

A Lighter Take on a Serious Issue

While the video intentionally pushes the situation to the point of absurdity, the reality behind the joke is far from amusing.

Over recent weeks, oil has become one of the basic commodities causing significant concern among Cuban families due to its scarcity and steep cost.
