A motorcyclist is in critical condition following a high-speed collision with a Yutong bus on Wednesday night in the Florida municipality of Camagüey. The accident took place along the Central Highway, as reported by the Facebook group "Accidentes Buses & Camiones."
The crash occurred at the junction of Egusquiza Street and the Central Highway. Allegedly, the motorcyclist failed to obey a 'Stop' sign before merging onto the main road.
Eyewitnesses, including Yasmany Morales who shared the report, mentioned that the rider possibly lost control of the motorcycle a few meters before reaching the intersection. This loss of control was potentially caused by encountering a pothole or uneven pavement at excessive speed.
"As witnesses to the crash, we observed that the motorcyclist might have lost control of the bike a short distance from the central highway, dealing with a bump or pothole at reckless speed, which likely prevented him from stopping in time at the Egusquiza Street corner," recounted the eyewitness.
After the collision, nearby residents and passersby quickly organized to transport the injured man to the nearest hospital.
The motorcyclist sustained a severe head injury and was described as being in critical condition at the time of transportation. His identity and current health status have not been disclosed.
This incident adds to a series of accidents involving motorcycles and Yutong buses in the province. In January 2025, two Yutong buses collided on the Western Ring Road of Camagüey, which connects to Florida, resulting in at least two fatalities and over 50 injuries.
In April of the same year, another Yutong bus collided with a motorcycle at the Lajas Crossing on the Central Highway, causing two deaths.
