On Wednesday, President Donald Trump led a solemn transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to honor the remains of four U.S. service members who lost their lives in the Middle East during the ongoing conflict with Iran.
The White House released official photos of the event, showing Trump—dressed in a blue suit and red tie—saluting the flag-draped caskets. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was also in attendance to pay respects during the ceremony.
The honored soldiers are First Lieutenant Tyler James Feehan, age 25; Sergeant Michael Emmanuel Swinton, age 30; Sergeant Angel S. Rampersad, age 28; and Private Isabella Gonzales, who was just 19.
According to Reuters, three of these brave individuals were killed when an Iranian missile struck their barracks at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan between July 17 and 19.
The fourth soldier died in Erbil, Iraq, during the controlled detonation of an Iranian attack drone.
"Their service, courage, and sacrifice will never be forgotten," the White House declared when sharing images of the ceremony on its social media platforms.
A Series of Solemn Observances
This marks the third dignified transfer ceremony that Trump has presided over since the conflict with Iran began, which was sparked by "Operation Epic Fury" in early March 2026.
Since the onset of hostilities, U.S. casualties have mounted across various locations in the region. In early March, six soldiers were killed in Iranian drone attacks in Kuwait, and an additional six crew members on a KC-135 tanker aircraft died in Iraq on March 13.
The first dignified transfer ceremony took place on March 7, 2026, when Trump received the remains of the soldiers who fell in Kuwait.
Iran expanded its attacks in July, targeting U.S. bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, as well as the Jordanian installation at Muwaffaq Salti, as reported by Infobae.
The death toll among U.S. military personnel in the conflict with Iran now exceeds a dozen since the outbreak of hostilities, with the recent loss of two soldiers in combat last week preceding this latest ceremony in Dover.
