Cuban Activist "Undesirable Maceíto" Breaks Silence After Arrest in Miami Sting Operation

Ernesto Martín, a 29-year-old Cuban activist residing in Hialeah and known on social media as "The Undesirable Maceíto," has spoken out following his arrest on July 2nd in Miami. The arrest was a result of an undercover police operation linked to an alleged solicitation of prostitution services.

In an exclusive interview with Telemundo 51, Martín took responsibility for his actions, though he emphasized that the matter was purely personal.

On the same day, he released an official statement on his Instagram account, vowing to face the legal repercussions without excuses.

The Arrest: What Happened?

According to the police report, Martín responded to an ad on a website associated with escort services, verbally agreed to a service, and went to a location prearranged by investigators.

Upon arrival, he met with undercover agent "Peña," identified in the police document by the badge number 9689. Martín handed over $60 as payment and was immediately taken into custody.

The report notes that no physical contact occurred prior to the arrest; the charges are based on the verbal agreement and the payment transaction.

He is charged with soliciting someone to commit prostitution, a first-degree misdemeanor in Florida.

"No, I'd rather not comment. It’s a legal process currently being cleared up, and I'm following my lawyer's advice."

"First of all, self-control—don't let emotions take over, and understand that what's normal isn't always legal. But clearly, it's something that could have been avoided had I made better choices."

Martín also requested that political figures he has worked with not be dragged into the issue:

"I am completely independent. There's no reason to involve Mayor Bryan because this was my personal decision. It's a decision I made, and I own up to it, ready to face its consequences. I have nothing to hide."
