"I do not support amnesty. I have never supported amnesty. When you open the door to amnesty, you essentially invite more illegal immigration into your country," Donalds stated.

The congressman emphasized that any immigration reform should only occur after the nation strengthens its border security and advances the deportation of immigrants residing illegally in the country.
"My plan is very clear. First, the borders must be secured. President Trump has done that. Second, you need to deport criminal illegal immigrants. President Trump is doing that right now," he asserted.
Donalds suggested that once these goals are achieved, the United States could consider changes in the work visa system and other legal immigration mechanisms.
Challenges in Key Industries
He was also questioned about the labor shortages in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and hospitality, industries traditionally reliant on immigrant labor.
The congressman attributed these issues to the immigration policies of President Joe Biden's administration, accusing it of allowing a massive influx of immigrants and misusing the asylum system.
Impact on the Cuban Community
Donalds' remarks hold particular significance for the Cuban community, one of Florida's largest immigrant groups. When asked about Cubans leaving the island and entering the U.S. through the southern border, he insisted on maintaining strict immigration standards.
Nevertheless, he reiterated his support for political change in Cuba, advocating for the downfall of the Cuban regime.
"When it comes to Cuba, yes, the Cuban regime must fall because it's time for freedom and peace to prevail in Cuba," he declared.
Criticism of the Cuban Government
The legislator further described the Cuban government as a dictatorship that, in his view, does not respect fundamental freedoms or individual rights.
"They do not respect women, freedom of speech, property rights, or Western civilization," he said regarding the Cuban regime and other authoritarian governments.
Donalds also defended his vote in favor of a $70 billion legislative package to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Border Patrol, arguing that border security must remain a federal priority.
Political Ambitions and Support
At 47, Donalds recently formalized his candidacy for the governorship of Florida, enjoying Trump's public endorsement. Although he expressed a desire to gain Governor Ron DeSantis's support, he emphasized his commitment to promoting the conservative policies that have characterized the state's Republican administration.
"I would love to have Governor DeSantis's endorsement. He has been excellent for our state. Obviously, I have the full support of President Trump. I am very grateful for that," he concluded.
