American retail giant Costco has issued a nationwide recall of the ZWILLING Enfinigy Pro electric kettle after confirming that the appliance's handle might loosen or detach, potentially causing hot water to spill and posing a severe burn risk to users.
The recall impacts about 113,440 units sold in the United States from September 2019 to November 2025, according to a notice released by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on May 14, identified as recall number 26-489.
Additionally, approximately 43,963 units were sold in Canada, and around 48 in Mexico.
The manufacturer, ZWILLING J.A. Henckels AG, has reported 163 documented incidents where handles became loose or detached from the kettle body, five of which were related to this fault, and at least one confirmed injury involving second-degree burns.
In an official notice from ZWILLING, published on April 20, it warns that the handle "may, in isolated cases, loosen or detach," resulting in "uncontrolled hot water spillage" which could "pose a scalding hazard to users or those nearby."
Costco posted the recall notice on its official product recall page, directly advising customers: "Stop using it," and urging them to return the item immediately for a full refund.
The affected models are the Zwilling Enfinigy Electric Kettle Pro Set in silver and black colors, with Costco item numbers #1773073 (silver) and #1773101 (black), as well as Item #1591990 for all U.S. locations.
Manufactured in China and made with porcelain, these kettles were priced between $119.99 and $200 and were sold not only at Costco but also through Amazon, HomeGoods, Bloomingdale's, Crate & Barrel, Williams-Sonoma, and ZWILLING's website.
"If you have this item, cease using it immediately and return it to your nearest Costco for a full refund," states the chain.
Consumers can request a refund in three ways: by returning the item to their nearest Costco, registering on the website set up by ZWILLING at zwillingkettlerecall.expertinquiry.com, or contacting the company via email at enfinigy-kettle-recall@zwilling.com or by phone at 866-963-4583.
The company specifically asked that the product not be discarded until the claim is fully approved and urged consumers to share this information with anyone who uses or may use one of these kettles.
This recall is part of a series of recalls issued by Costco throughout 2026, which includes Agio Menlo Woven patio swings (18,500 units) due to fall hazards, the BISSELL Steam Shot Omnireach steam cleaner, and the Generac GP9200 generator, among others.
In July 2025, Costco had already recalled more than a dozen products due to various safety risks, including a pressure cooker with burn hazards and a battery with a fire risk.
ZWILLING emphasized in its official statement: "As a quality brand, we are committed to ensuring our products are safe and that our customers are satisfied. This is why we have decided to recall the electric kettles. Of course, you will receive your money back."
