On Saturday, opposition leader José Daniel Ferrer issued a stern public warning to those who support and enforce the Cuban regime, urging them to break ties with the dictatorship before it's too late, as they will find no escape.

In a statement shared on his social media, the founder of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU) claimed the regime has allegedly ordered the burning of files belonging to its own oppressive forces. However, he assured that copies of these documents already exist.

"There are reports that the tyranny has instructed the destruction of files related to its oppressive officers, but numerous individuals have already secured copies of these records to leverage against the oppressors," Ferrer stated.

He also criticized social media profiles that attack those fighting for Cuba's freedom, noting that many of these accounts are restricted.

"Why do so many profiles supporting the regime and insulting those of us advocating for Cuba's freedom have restricted access? It's because they are ashamed of their actions and wish to prevent us from accessing their images and other information," Ferrer pointed out.

Ferrer identified a particularly dangerous group of regime collaborators: those who operate openly as "apparent opposition" figures.

"These tools of tyranny are a bit more cunning, operating as apparent opponents of the dictatorship without restricting their profiles," he warned.

His message ended with a direct ultimatum: "Oppressors and informers will find no escape. Be assured. The regime will soon collapse. If you wish to lessen your guilt, sever ties with the criminal regime now. Later will be too late."

Ferrer has been issuing these warnings from Miami, where he was forcibly exiled in October 2025 alongside his wife Nelva Ortega and their three children, after being released directly from Mar Verde prison in Santiago de Cuba.

From exile, the UNPACU leader has continued his intense political activism. In January 2026, he directly warned Díaz-Canel to prepare for the impending collapse of the system, and in March, he publicly predicted a date for the regime's downfall.

He has also supported the Trump administration's measures against Cuba, describing them as "a decisive step towards ending Castroism," and in April, he received a standing ovation at the Florida Congress alongside other Cuban dissidents.

The oppressive climate in Cuba remains dire. The Cuban Institute for Freedom of Expression and Press (ICLEP) documented 114 attacks on freedom of expression in January 2026 and 128 in February, highlighting a sustained escalation.

Ferrer has spent more than half of the past two decades in prison due to his activism. Upon arriving in Miami in October 2025, Secretary of State Marco Rubio welcomed him with the words: "Welcome to freedom, Ferrer," and called for the release of over 700 Cuban political prisoners.
