Beanys Colón, the partner of Daylon Fleitas, a Cuban man tragically killed in August 2025, has finally broken her silence. She attended a court hearing on Wednesday at the Miami-Dade Court, where the two accused of the crime are being prosecuted. Colón revealed the heartbreaking truth that the victim and his alleged killer were once friends.

"He was someone who helped him, they were friends. Daylon never saw it coming; he never expected his friend, whom he even assisted in buying his truck, to do this to him," Colón told Univision.

Colón also shared the family's ongoing anguish over the slow pace of the judicial process. "It's a pain for the family that even in August, we are uncertain if we will be able to come home, a year after his death. He didn't deserve it, no one deserves to die in the circumstances Daylon did," she added.

Alfredo Carballo and his partner Arielys Álvarez Cabrera are facing charges in connection with the case.

The tragic incident occurred on August 3, 2025, in a truck parking lot in Medley. Fleitas had gone there to collect a $10,000 loan he had given to Carballo. According to an internal document from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, both men entered the victim's truck, and shortly afterward, Fleitas was seen falling to the ground. The police report states that both Carballo and Álvarez entered the victim's truck. Moments later, Fleitas is seen falling from the vehicle, and Alfredo is seen dragging him across the ground.

The document further notes, "The suspect placed a recycling bin in the back of the victim's truck and drove away in it, followed by another vehicle."

Surveillance cameras at the Medley parking lot captured the entire sequence, leading to the identification of the suspects.

Fleitas, who lived in Hialeah, was reported missing by his family until authorities discovered his stabbed body inside a container in the southwest part of the county on August 9, 2025.

After the crime, Carballo and Álvarez fled to Mexico with their five-month-old baby. Arielys Álvarez surrendered to Mexican authorities in September 2025 and was extradited to Florida, where she is under house arrest on a $200,000 bond.

Alfredo Carballo remained on the run until January 27, 2026, when he was apprehended in Mexico and extradited to Miami the following day. Carballo faces charges of second-degree murder with a weapon, robbery, and evidence tampering; Álvarez is charged with complicity and evidence tampering.

The trial might not take place until August 2026, nearly a year after the crime, a delay that the Fleitas family describes as unbearably long.
