Carlucho Opens Up About Personal Life for the First Time from Madrid

Thursday, April 30, 2026 by Charlotte Gomez

The well-known Cuban comedian, José Carlos Pérez, better known as Carlucho, hinted at the end of his romantic relationship with Lilliet Rodríguez, also known as Lily, during a live interview with CiberCuba from Madrid.

Amid the live broadcast, an unexpected question from the audience surfaced: "Where is Lily?" Carlucho's response was heartfelt, cautious, and purposefully enigmatic.

"Lily is not a woman one can simply leave. She is someone you keep forever in a very special place. That's all I can say for those who are concerned," the comedian expressed, before using a philosophical metaphor to describe the nature of their relationship.

"Things don't have to last a lifetime to be eternal. There are eternal things, like the love for a mother or father. There are eternal loves," he stated, implicitly comparing their marital bond to a love that endures even when the person is no longer present.

Without explicitly confirming or denying a breakup, Carlucho offered words of deep appreciation for the woman who had been his partner for a decade.

"That's the only comment I'll make about a woman who dedicated the last 10 years to making me the happiest man on the planet."

Carlucho's New Chapter in Madrid

The interview comes during a period of heightened visibility for Carlucho, who has been living in Madrid for about a year and a half after spending over three decades in Miami.

In April 2025, Carlucho was granted accreditation by the Spanish government to serve as a correspondent in Europe, representing 1140 AM WQBA and stations under Latino Media Holding.

At that time, he admitted he had long wished to settle in Spain, a country he visited numerous times with friends and family. However, he made it clear that this does not imply a permanent departure from Miami.

Addressing Professional Controversies

During the CiberCuba interview this week, Carlucho also addressed the controversy involving fellow presenter Carlos Otero, who had publicly stated he would never work with him again.

Carlucho responded with understanding, suggesting that unlike some other Cuban artists, he neither has the space nor the time to harbor resentment. His professional life keeps him exceedingly busy.

On May 3, Carlucho is set to perform with Robertico in the show "El Reencuentro" at the Teatro Las Vegas in Madrid, marking their first joint performance as Los Bufomaníacos in over 25 years.
