The Argentine Federal Court of Criminal Cassation has mandated the seizure of all assets belonging to Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, her children Máximo and Florencia, along with other convicted individuals in the Vialidad case, to settle an updated debt amounting to 684,990,350,139.86 Argentine pesos (nearly 492 million US dollars).

Judges Gustavo Hornos, Mariano Borinsky, and Diego Barroetaveña of the court's Chamber IV signed the ruling, which was reported by Infobae the day before its announcement.

The original sentence had established the confiscation amount at $84,835,227,378.04, a figure later revised by official experts, prosecutors, and the Supreme Court's Body of Accounting Experts.

Despite being required to pay the updated debt by August 13, 2025, the convicted parties failed to comply, prompting the court to authorize forced execution.

Seized Properties and Assets

The ruling affects a total of 111 properties: 84 owned by businessman Lázaro Báez, the primary beneficiary of the corruption scheme; 19 properties transferred or inherited by Máximo and Florencia Kirchner; and one belonging to the former president herself.

Cristina Kirchner's property is a 6,001.64-square-meter lot situated on Avenida 17 de Octubre in El Calafate, purchased in 2007.

The assets of her children include the Hotel Los Sauces complex, built on land acquired in 2002 and expanded with parcels bought in 2007, along with ten units on Mitre Street in Río Gallegos and two large plots in El Calafate measuring 44,106 and 87,046 square meters, all incorporated into the family estate in 2007.

Impact on Businesses and Further Measures

The measure also encompasses the seizure of assets from companies such as Austral Construcciones SA, Kank and Costilla SA, Gotti Hnos. SA, and Loscalzo y Del Curto SRL.

If these initial assets prove insufficient to cover the total amount, the court plans to proceed against the assets of Nelson Guillermo Periotti, José Francisco López, Mauricio Collareda, Raúl Gilberto Pavesi, and Raúl Osvaldo Daruich. The confiscated assets will be managed by the Supreme Court for eventual auction.

Background on the Vialidad Case

The Vialidad case investigated the irregular awarding of 51 public roadwork contracts in Santa Cruz between 2003 and 2015, which systematically favored Báez's companies, a close friend and business partner of the Kirchners.

In December 2022, the Federal Oral Court No. 2 sentenced Cristina Kirchner to six years in prison and a lifetime ban from public office, a verdict unanimously upheld by the Supreme Court on June 10, 2025, when the sentence became final.

Since then, Kirchner has been under house arrest at her Buenos Aires apartment on San José Street, monitored by an electronic ankle bracelet with quarterly checks. This property is also included in the list of assets subject to confiscation.

The court dismissed the asset transfer Cristina executed in 2016, where she donated 50% of 26 properties and over $40 million in accounts and stocks to her children—a transaction totaling $74 million—considering it did not alter the illicit origin of the funds and was done "just days before her assets were frozen."

The Kirchner family's declared wealth soared from $7 million in 2003, with 25 properties, to nearly $72.2 million in 2015, accumulating up to 44 properties, according to sworn statements to the Anti-Corruption Office, as reconstructed by Infobae.
