Tuesday, April 21, 2026 by Oscar Guevara

On Monday, Cuban influencer Yily Sin Filtros took to TikTok to address two common questions from her followers: why she lacks legal documentation and why her dental issues remain unresolved.

"These are two questions I get asked a lot," Yily noted, explaining her recent reduced online presence as she's been concentrating on her online sales business.

Addressing her dental situation, Yily was upfront: she simply can't afford the costly treatment. "It's an amount of money I just don't have," she clarified, dispelling the notion that she's swimming in wealth as some might assume.

Yily highlighted that she only started from scratch six months ago and is just beginning to achieve some financial stability. She even hinted at an upcoming move, marking a personal milestone in her journey.

Prioritizing her 16-year-old son, Yily has made it a point to address his dental needs first, currently undergoing orthodontic treatment to prevent future issues for him.

"As a mother, my priority is to fix my son's teeth," she stated. She shared that her own dental challenges stem from not being able to receive timely care in Cuba, where resources and services were, and remain, scarce.

"In Cuba, there were no resources, neither financial nor material, and now there are even fewer," she explained, detailing the progressive deterioration of her teeth, which require extensive and expensive treatment.

Despite the potential pressure from her public image to rectify this issue, Yily emphasized that her current earnings are best spent on her son's welfare.

She also addressed social media criticism, asserting that imperfect teeth do not define a person's identity or aspirations. "It doesn't determine who you are or what you want to be in the future," she stated firmly.

Looking ahead, Yily revealed plans to discuss her immigration status in an upcoming video, while also sharing positive developments in her recent life to inspire others facing similar hardships.
