It was closed, but it slides up. I don't know how he fell because I wasn't there. You know how kids are: you turn around, and they move," she stated.
Following the incident, the window was secured with plywood. The North Miami police are investigating the case but do not suspect any foul play.

Milfort, a single mother of three, acknowledged the financial strain the situation has caused. "Right now, I need help because I can't work. I might not be able to pay rent because I have to stay with my son, and I don't think my job will pay me for being out this long," she said.
