The manager of Greynolds Park Club Condominium in North Miami Beach was taken into custody in the parking lot of the very building she managed. She is accused of demanding bribes from a contracted vendor to retain his services.
María del Carmen Álvarez-Concepción, aged 57, has been charged with soliciting and accepting bribes, organized fraud, and second-degree grand theft, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office.
Local 10 reports that the investigation began when a board member and condominium owner at the 17890 W. Dixie Highway location alerted authorities to financial irregularities within the association's funds.
On January 23, the board member was approached by a vendor who disclosed that Álvarez-Concepción demanded cash payments and Zelle transfers to keep his contract with the building intact.
The vendor formally met with detectives in February, confirming the initial allegations to the authorities.
The arrest report reveals that the board member "expressed longstanding concerns about the accused's exclusive control over multi-million dollar contracts, lack of financial transparency, questionable charges, missing records, and the exclusion of certain board members from crucial association decisions."
Police reports indicate that between March 7, 2025, and December 5, 2025, Álvarez-Concepción repeatedly solicited and accepted bribes from the vendor, amounting to approximately $19,910 in cash and Zelle transfers.
Between February 18 and March 19 of this year, she accepted an additional $1,000 in bribes, bringing the total undisclosed payments to roughly $20,910.
These payments were hidden from the board and were not authorized by the association, authorities specified.
Álvarez-Concepción was arrested Thursday afternoon and was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
During questioning, she "admitted to accepting bribes while serving in her role as the on-site manager."
Telemundo 51 reported that she was expected to appear before the bond court on Friday.
"This arrest underscores our dedication to safeguarding residents and holding accountable those who abuse positions of trust. We will continue to aggressively combat fraud in community associations," stated Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz in a press release.
