Sandro Castro Reveals Sparse Living Conditions to CNN: "Even a Castro Faces Hardships"

Sandro Castro, the grandson of Fidel Castro, provided an exclusive look into his Havana apartment during an interview with CNN. The apartment, with its bare walls and nearly empty refrigerator, seems to portray a narrative that even those bearing the dictator's name are not immune to the hardships plaguing Cuba.

"We have to fight, as all Cubans say. It’s tough, very tough… even for a Castro. We lack electricity, water, and basic supplies… it’s extremely challenging," remarked young Castro, who has made a name for himself as an "influencer" and businessman.

In a bold move, Sandro openly criticized President Miguel Díaz-Canel, expressing that the leader has failed to make necessary decisions for the country's benefit.

"In my opinion, he’s not doing a good job. Many things should have been addressed long ago, and those failures are now detrimental to us," stated Sandro Castro, 33, during the conversation in his apartment in Havana, an area frequently hit by power outages.

Sandro, known as both an "influencer" and a nightclub entrepreneur in Havana, shared his perspective on his grandfather, describing Fidel Castro as "a person with principles."

While acknowledging the widespread struggles of the Cuban people, Sandro noted his relatively privileged position, thanks to a personal generator that provides better conditions than most Cubans experience.

"We have to fight, as all Cubans say. It’s tough, very tough… even for a Castro. We face numerous hardships: one day there’s no electricity, no water, and supplies don’t arrive… it’s incredibly tough," he reiterated.
