A young Cuban man shared a heartfelt video on social media, breaking down in tears as he detailed the daily struggles he endures due to the extended power outages plaguing the island.
In the video uploaded to TikTok by the user @elcubanitosinfiltro, the young man reveals that he has been forced to cook with charcoal for several days because the lack of electricity prevents him from preparing meals normally.
"I'm not here to complain, but I need to vent on my platform," he states at the beginning of the video, visibly shaken, while showing the pile of clothes in his home that he hasn't been able to dry.
He recounts how he barely managed to soften some beans before the power went out. "I didn't have time for anything," he laments.
The young man shares that he even had to learn how to light charcoal, something he had never done before, just to be able to cook amidst the outages affecting his community.
"We've been eating at 11 p.m. for about four days, lighting the charcoal," he explains.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that he lives on the second floor of a building, causing the charcoal smoke to accumulate inside the apartment.
"It seemed like the house was on fire. All my clothes got smoky," he describes.
He also explains the distress of cooking under these conditions within his apartment, where the smoke and lack of ventilation create a suffocating environment.
Through tears, the young man admits that he usually tries to face hardships with humor, but acknowledges that the current situation has overwhelmed him.
"I've never reached this point. I always laughed at misfortunes, but today I'm filled with an immense rage," he concludes.
The video has gone viral on social media, with countless Cubans sharing similar experiences amidst the ongoing energy crisis impacting much of the country.
