A Cuban woman residing in the United States took to TikTok to share why she and her husband decided to return to Cuba, a choice she says was primarily driven by her daughter.

In a video posted on the @massiemtrimio account, she clarified that her return to the island wasn't for the reasons speculated by many on social media but was a family decision focused on reclaiming time with her daughter.

"I don't owe anyone an explanation, but since I enjoy sharing and it makes me feel good, I think it's something I should explain," she stated at the beginning of the video.

The woman explained that her choice to move back to Cuba was based on the most significant aspect of her life: her daughter. She shared that when they initially moved to the U.S. in search of a better future, they had to leave their young daughter behind in Cuba, a decision that grew increasingly burdensome over time.

"Over time, you realize that the future is uncertain, and the most valuable gift God gives you is your children. The greatest blessing is to watch them grow and cherish every moment of their lives," she expressed.

She and her husband ultimately realized they wanted to regain the childhood moments they could still enjoy with their daughter, even if it meant giving up certain material opportunities.

"Recapturing the remaining time of her childhood is worth more than any material possession," she asserted.

She also addressed criticism from those who questioned her decision to return to Cuba, insisting that she doesn't believe she has jeopardized her daughter's future.

"I don't think I've ruined her future, as some suggest. On the contrary, I believe I've improved her present by being there with her mom and dad," she remarked.

The Cuban woman also made clear that returning to Cuba doesn't imply she had a negative experience in the United States. She expressed gratitude for the opportunities and people she encountered during her time there.

"I never said I didn't like the United States. On the contrary, I'm very grateful for everything I experienced there. The U.S. is and will always be a part of my story," she concluded.

The video has sparked a variety of reactions on social media, with some users supporting her family-centered decision, while others question the choice to return to an island facing severe economic and social crises.
