President Donald Trump is set to convene leaders from 10 Latin American countries this Saturday in Miami for a summit named "Shield of the Americas," the White House announced.

The gathering will include leaders from Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, and Trinidad and Tobago. Additionally, Chile's president-elect, José Antonio Kast, who will officially take office on March 11, is expected to attend, as reported by the EFE agency.

According to White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, the meeting aims to bolster regional cooperation in security, migration, and the fight against organized crime, while also promoting a shared agenda for the continent's stability and prosperity.

Key topics of discussion will include irregular migration to the United States, combating drug trafficking, criminal gangs, and other regional security threats, as well as hemispheric coordination in response to geopolitical challenges.

The summit will be held at the Trump National Doral Miami, a property owned by the President, serving as part of Washington's strategy to enhance its leadership in the region and solidify alliances with like-minded Latin American governments.
