Abel Ernesto Tablada de la Torre, a faculty member at the Faculty of Architecture at Havana's Technological University (CUJAE) and brother of Cuban diplomat Johana Tablada, has avoided publicly addressing rumors of his alleged expulsion from the institution. This follows the circulation of messages suggesting he will no longer be teaching there.

During a phone conversation with journalist Mario Pentón, the professor refrained from providing specifics about his status, stating that the issue is being managed through internal channels.

"We are handling this matter internally, and I cannot provide information on it at this time. I appreciate your concern," he stated when questioned.

When asked whether he authored the text circulating on WhatsApp and other platforms, Tablada neither confirmed nor denied the information directly.

Messages suggest that the university's administration might have barred him from teaching due to two critical posts he shared on social media. Allegedly, the professor offered to continue teaching without pay, an option that was reportedly also declined.

The potential departure of the professor has sparked discussions on social media, with some users noting that it's not uncommon for university faculty in Cuba to face repercussions for voicing criticisms against the regime.

The situation draws additional attention because of his connection to Johana Tablada, a high-ranking official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the deputy head of the Cuban Embassy in Mexico. However, there has been no official confirmation of his expulsion or details about any measures taken.
