This Thursday, the Cuban government disclosed the identities of ten individuals involved in what they allege was an attempted armed infiltration from the United States to Cuba, using a boat registered in Florida.
According to statements from the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex), Vice Minister Carlos Fernández de Cossío identified the participants as Cristian Ernesto Acosta Guevara, Conrado Galindo Serrior, José Manuel Rodríguez Castelló, Leordán Cruz Gómez, Amijail Sánchez González, and Roberto Álvarez Ávila.
The list also includes Pavel Alling Peña, Michael Ortega Casanova, Ledián Padrón Guevara, and Héctor Duani Cruz Correa, the latter four being those who perished in the confrontation.
Fernández de Cossío clarified an earlier mistake where Rolando Roberto Ascorra Consuegra was incorrectly named as part of the group.
According to the official narrative, the boat contained assault rifles, sniper rifles, pistols, Molotov cocktails, night vision equipment, bulletproof vests, bayonets, camouflage clothing, various caliber ammunition, communication devices, and "monograms of counterrevolutionary and terrorist organizations."
He noted that the information remains preliminary.
Fernández de Cossío stated that Cuban authorities have been in contact with their U.S. counterparts, including the Department of State and the Coast Guard, showing a willingness to exchange information to clarify the situation.
He also mentioned that U.S. officials have expressed a willingness to cooperate in the ongoing investigation.
The Vice Minister highlighted that two of the individuals involved, Amijail Sánchez González and Leordán Enrique Cruz Gómez, were already on a national list of people and entities linked to criminal investigations for alleged acts of terrorism, shared with the United States in 2023 and 2025.
The Cuban government reiterated that this incident is not isolated, blaming groups based in the United States for inciting violent actions against the island.
The Minrex emphasized Cuba's ongoing commitment to counter-terrorism and its duty to protect its territorial waters and national security.
