Ulises Toirac has taken to social media to clarify that his personal profile does not follow a political agenda, urging followers to respect the diverse nature of his posts.
"This isn't a politician's profile. Not even a comedian's profile. It's the profile of a person whose job is comedy and who holds political opinions," the comedian stated on his Facebook page.
Toirac explained that his content is not solely humorous nor does every post serve as a political statement. He shares insights about his life, thoughts, and concerns, covering personal and professional topics as well as his views on the state of the nation.
He questioned those who respond with slogans like "Patria y Vida" on non-political posts, such as when he shares pictures of his dog, or "Patria o Muerte" when he promotes his book "Locos de barrio."
While acknowledging everyone's right to comment, Toirac believes that such remarks are often out of context.
To illustrate his point, he likened it to barging into an ongoing conversation and saying something irrelevant to the subject at hand.
"It slides off but doesn't stick," he remarked with his characteristic oratory style.
The comedian's message highlights the polarized atmosphere often seen in the digital spaces of Cuban public figures, where even personal content can provoke political reactions.
Through his post, Toirac emphasized that his profile is a personal space where he practices both his craft and his right to express opinions, without turning every post into an ideological debate.
Despite his statement, users have perceived his Facebook profile as a platform for critiquing current issues in Cuban society.
In line with this, Toirac recently criticized the decision by the Provincial Court of Holguín to deny the habeas corpus petition for young people associated with the independent project "El4tico," stating that the ruling was a discretionary interpretation of the law.
"It would set a bad precedent. It's not about what would have been just, but what's logical. The Holguín court denies habeas corpus to the #el4tico youths, backed by a law that can be stretched or shrunk at will. Subjective interpretation. The battle of ideas is a slaughterhouse," he wrote on his Facebook profile.
