Díaz-Balart Praises Trump's Stance: "Finally, a President Who Won't Tolerate the Cuban Dictatorship"

Republican Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart has praised President Donald Trump for his firm policy towards Cuba, stating that the current administration is unwilling to legitimize or support the Cuban regime.

During a Fox News interview, Díaz-Balart described the situation on the island as "disastrous" and commended Trump for applying pressure on the Cuban government rather than offering political or economic concessions.

"The oil sent by Maduro has not been used by the regime in Havana to aid the people," the congressman pointed out, emphasizing that these resources have been utilized for internal repression and to benefit high-ranking officials and their families.

Díaz-Balart advocated for the direct delivery of humanitarian aid to the Cuban populace, highlighting that, unlike previous administrations, Trump's government channels this assistance through the Catholic Church and Caritas to prevent state control over the aid.

The congressman dismissed claims that sanctions are to blame for the island's suffering, asserting that blackouts, shortages, and the breakdown of services have persisted for years due to systemic corruption and incompetence.

In the interview, Díaz-Balart argued that any dialogue with Havana must aim for genuine change rather than providing the regime with time or resources, in line with U.S. legislation that ties normalization of relations to substantial political transformations.

"President Trump refuses to accept a narcoterrorist dictatorship 90 miles from the United States," he declared, reiterating that pressure will remain until a change occurs that ensures freedom for the Cuban people and security for the region.
