Cuban influencer Anna Sofía Benítez Silvente, recognized for her activism and outspoken criticism of the Cuban political system, publicly voiced her support on Friday for the independent project El4tico. Members of this group were recently detained in Holguín during a police raid.
In a message shared on her social media platforms, Benítez stated, "My support goes to El4tico; you truly represent me. You are blessed by God and have the backing of the people."
Her statement followed an incident where police stormed the residence where the young creators were producing content, seizing their equipment and arresting two of their members.
In a subsequent video, Benítez elaborated on her views, declaring that "the Cuban government does not represent me" and challenging the official narrative regarding the nation's Constitution.
Analyzing Article One of the Constitution, she questioned, "Cuba is a socialist state of law and social justice, democratic... democratic? No one chose them, the people are not heard nor do they hold power," she asserted critically.
Benítez argued that the presence of a single political party, the Communist Party of Cuba, negates any concept of political pluralism. "Don't talk to me about democracy when there is no encouragement of electoral competition or genuine elections," she remarked.
The influencer further criticized the regime for viewing the population as a "mass" rather than individuals, describing this as dehumanizing and shameful.
In her concluding message, Anna Sofía declared, "The party and the Cuban government do not represent me. I am represented by the people suffering in squalor, waiting for change; by Christ, who never stood idle in the face of injustice; and by El4tico, who boldly speaks the truth."
She concluded her statement with a clear demand: "Freedom for political prisoners and down with the Cuban dictatorship," a phrase that has gone viral on social media under the hashtag #TodosSomosEl4tico.
