A group of well-known Cuban comedians has taken social media by storm with a parody of the iconic song We Are the World, cleverly transformed into a Spanish version titled “Donald Trump, Take Canel Away.”
Presented by journalist Mario J. Pentón, the video satirizes the unity of Cubans through this musical piece and includes a humorous call for something similar to Venezuela's recent incident involving the capture of Nicolás Maduro to happen in Cuba.
Among the participating artists are Javier Díaz, La Crema (Luis Alberto Vicet), Facundo from "Vivir del cuento" (Andy Vázquez), Boncó Quiñongo (Conrado Cogle), Oscar the Teacher (Óscar E. Lago), Uchii3.3 (Josué Valdés), Hugo Reyes Show (Hugo Reyes), Alfredito Locura (Alfredo Rondón Vázquez), and Mayiyi (Rogelio Peral).
In a humorous tone, the comedians blend political critique with music, highlighting the public's dissatisfaction with Miguel Díaz-Canel's regime.
The piece has gone viral among Cubans both on the island and abroad. The song's video has garnered over 56,000 likes on Facebook, thousands of views on other social media platforms, and numerous comments praising the courage to use humor as a tool for protest and hope.
