Cuban Woman Returns from U.S. to Renovate Her Home in Cuba: "I Know I Won't Regret It"

A Cuban woman, who recently returned to the island after living in the United States, has shared a new video on TikTok showcasing her home's renovation and defending her choice to reunite with her family in Cuba.

"I am extremely happy to have come back to Cuba, to be with my daughter and family. I know I won't regret this decision," the young woman states in the video posted by user @sailin751. The clip shows her working alongside several people on home improvements.

The video, which has garnered thousands of views, also features her response to critics who questioned her return. "To those saying I'll starve, you're mistaken. When you're hardworking and determined, you can succeed anywhere," she insists. She also expresses gratitude to God for the opportunities she had abroad: "I am infinitely thankful to Jehovah for all the blessings I've received and for being able to prepare myself here in Cuba. I made the most of my time in the U.S. to work hard. Blessings to those who wish me harm; may God shower you with blessings. Amen."

Back in August 2025, the same user had shared another video announcing her return from the United States, explaining that she did it "for her daughter, who is her priority." At that time, she expressed gratitude to the U.S. but was convinced her happiness lay with her family.

Recent footage shows her sweeping debris in front of her home while several men work on the exterior wall. The video caption reads: "Here in Cuba, renovating my little house. Let me know if you want to see more videos."

The content has sparked a lively debate among users, with divided opinions on her decision to return. Some messages show support and empathy, with comments like "everyone should be where they feel best," "hardworking people live well anywhere," and "the greatest wealth is family, your daughter."

However, other reactions question her choice and the living conditions on the island. "What will happen when you run out of money?" one user wrote, while another suggested, "you should also fix the neighbors' houses," and a third added, "no one starves, but it’s a hard life."

Among more thoughtful comments, some users argued that returning isn't a step back but a quest for emotional well-being. A widely shared message states: "Returning to your homeland isn't going backward or failing. It's a conscious decision. It takes courage to admit that not everything outside is successful, that money without peace is empty, and that distance also wears on the soul."
