Nicolás Ernesto Maduro Guerra, a Venezuelan deputy and son of former president Nicolas Maduro, declared this Saturday that his father remains "strong" and shared a message of encouragement from the U.S. prison where he is detained alongside his wife, Cilia Flores, following the military operation in Caracas on January 3rd, ordered by President Donald Trump.

At an event of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) in Caracas, Maduro Guerra conveyed the words his father reportedly sent through his lawyers: "He said not to be sad, that we are fine; we are fighters. He is strong, they couldn't defeat him by any means."

From the prison in New York, Maduro stated, "I am a fighter, a man they couldn't overcome by any means; they had to use disproportionate force, but they did not defeat me," as recounted by his son to the chavista deputies. "We will preserve life, maintain power, uphold the revolution, and it is our duty to continue on our path to keep Venezuelan democracy alive."

The young deputy emphasized that chavismo is "not broken," but instead "solid and united," urging loyalty to the Bolivarian project.

"The strength of chavismo lies in unity, and no matter what happens, we must maintain unity among us, and trust: trust in him [Nicolás Maduro], trust in Jorge [Rodríguez], and trust in Diosdado [Cabello]. I told myself: Nico, stand with them," he expressed with an emotional tone.

From Caracas, interim president Delcy Rodríguez reaffirmed her temporary role while "the freedom of President Nicolás Maduro is achieved." During a visit to Petare, she asserted, "There is no doubt here, the Venezuelan people are in charge. I have the responsibility of taking charge while we achieve President Maduro's freedom."

The U.S. military operation, resulting in over a hundred casualties and injuries, concluded with the arrest of Maduro and Flores, who were brought before a New York court on January 5th, facing several federal charges.
