Authorities have reported the arrest of two Cuban nationals accused of orchestrating multiple luxury car thefts. The suspects allegedly made off with a Ferrari and a Rolls Royce from a high-end condominium in Miami Beach last week.

The Miami-Dade Police have identified the suspects as Roberto Macaya González, 36, and Maykel Álvarez, 46, both residents of Hialeah. They are facing serious charges related to a series of high-end vehicle thefts in the southeastern Florida county.

Macaya was taken into custody on Friday, followed by Álvarez on Saturday. The charges against them include grand theft, burglary of an occupied structure, grand theft of a vehicle, attempted grand theft of a vehicle, criminal mischief, and trafficking in stolen property, as per police records.

Macaya is additionally charged with fleeing and eluding a police officer, while Álvarez faces charges for knowingly driving with a suspended license.

Surveillance Footage and Vehicle Recovery

According to the arrest report, police officers responded to 100 South Pointe Drive in Miami Beach shortly after 1 a.m. on January 1, following reports of stolen vehicles.

Building surveillance cameras captured the suspects arriving in a blue Hyundai and entering the premises. One suspect was dropped off near a white Ferrari, while the other approached a black Rolls Royce Phantom; both luxury vehicles were subsequently stolen from the condominium.

On the morning of January 2, an officer spotted the Ferrari in the 6300 block of Northwest 31st Court in Miami. The officer witnessed a suspect exit a white transit van and enter the stolen vehicle. Despite the officer drawing his weapon to make an arrest, the man sped away in the Ferrari.

The Ferrari was later found abandoned in the vicinity of Northwest 36th Avenue and Northwest 50th Street.

Additional Theft Attempts

Detectives tracked down the blue Hyundai in Hialeah and arrested its occupants. One individual confessed that a relative had asked them to pick up Macaya from the location where the Ferrari was left. Macaya reportedly hid in a portable toilet while waiting for assistance.

In front of Macaya's residence, investigators discovered the stolen Rolls Royce parked. They also found the transit van, driven by Álvarez, which had been reported stolen.

Police documents reveal that on January 2, Macaya also attempted to steal a Range Rover and entered a Cadillac Escalade in the garage of the same Miami Beach apartment complex, but was unsuccessful.

Authorities reported an attempted motorcycle theft by three men at a building on the 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue early on January 1. Surveillance footage showed a suspect trying to load the motorcycle onto a white van, the same one driven by Álvarez, but he failed.

Criminal Background and Continued Investigation

The Hialeah Police disclosed that Macaya is also charged with stealing a luxury white Genesis GV70 SUV. On December 17, an officer spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled. The incident report states that the vehicle was later found crashed and abandoned at 591 East 30th Street.

Macaya's extensive record includes 15 license suspensions and a revocation of his driving privileges since April 30. He is on probation until 2030 for drug offenses and has an immigration detainer for deportation from the United States.

It remains unclear if additional individuals will face charges in connection with these luxury car thefts.
