A tragic car accident on Monday in Havana's Malecón resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to another individual.

Reports from social media indicated a collision between a car and a van occurred on Monday morning near the Anti-Imperialist Tribune section of the Malecón.

The fatal crash led to the death of a woman in the car, while another person sustained injuries. According to a Facebook post by Alex Ríos Cruz, employees from Artex and Cultura were traveling in the vehicles.

A social media user, identified as Yordankis Alonso, shared that the deceased was his cousin. He further explained that the driver lost control on a curve, veering into the opposite lane where the white van collided with the car. The impact occurred on the passenger side, where his relative was seated.

"That stretch has been tragic for many families in recent years," he lamented.

In another comment, a man noted that the Hyundai car experienced a "steering defect and veered into the van's path," and mentioned that the expert determined there was no speeding involved.

Another individual pointed out that accidents nearly occur weekly in this area, questioning whether drivers are paying attention to traffic signs.

Both vehicles involved in the collision sustained significant damage.

The accident took place on a busy section of the avenue, close to the U.S. Embassy, known for heavy traffic flow. Local residents and witnesses report frequent traffic law violations in the area.

In December, a separate accident in the same vicinity resulted in multiple injuries, including those of a little girl.
