President Donald J. Trump announced on Saturday that U.S. military forces have captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, reportedly removing them from Venezuela after a large-scale military operation.
In an official social media post, Trump declared that the United States executed a strike against Venezuela and its leadership, in coordination with American security agencies, according to his statement.
"Nicolás Maduro, along with his wife, has been apprehended and taken out of the country," Trump wrote.
The president also mentioned that he would hold a press conference at 11:00 a.m. at Mar-a-Lago, where he promised to provide further details regarding the operation.
