Cuban Woman in the U.S. Shares the Cost of Her Home in Cuba and Her Investments: "Over 60K Spent"

Monday, December 29, 2025 by Albert Rivera

A Cuban woman residing in the United States recently took to TikTok to share the journey of constructing her dream house in Cuba, a project she describes as being built with "immense sacrifice, love, and hope." The video, posted by user @adianetttt, showcases the transformation of a dilapidated structure into a nearly finished home, featuring new walls, a developing roof, and a spacious porch taking shape.

"This is how we bought it, and this is how it's turning out," she captioned the images, filmed in a quiet rural area within the country. In the comments section, Adianet disclosed that the property initially cost her $11,000, and she has invested over $60,000 in its renovation. "The purchase was 11k, each wall cost 3,500 plus materials—there are two—the roof was 7k plus everything else. Believe me, between materials, labor, and trips, it's been more than 60," she elaborated.

Set to the song "Gracias por tanto" by Leoni Torres, the video has garnered thousands of views and numerous supportive comments. "Many blessings, what a beautiful house," a follower remarked. "Returning home isn't going backward or failing; it's a conscious choice," commented another, one of the most echoed sentiments in the post.

However, not everyone agreed with her decision. Some users criticized her for investing such a significant amount in a country in crisis under an authoritarian regime. "It's not worth having anything in Cuba until the government falls," one user stated. Another was more direct: "With 60,000 dollars, I could buy a house in Spain and still have money left over."

Adianet, however, addressed the criticism with composure. "Everyone invests their money where they find happiness, period," she wrote, clearly unrepentant. Her response resonated with other Cubans living abroad. "We are Cubans, and if we're ever forced to leave here, we'll have to return. As mothers, we know we'll one day go back for the pieces of our lives we left behind," reflected another user.
